We'd love to share an in-depth guide that covers the ins and outs of visa and tax regulations in Barcelona. It's packed with insights that could be really helpful for you. Take a peek below:
Taxes
Even as a digital nomad, you will have to pay Spanish taxes once you meet any of the following criteria:
- You’ve spent more than 183 days of a year in Spain.
- The core of your economic interests and operations lies in Spain.
- You have a spouse or children living in Spain.
Any of the above will automatically qualify you as a ‘tax resident’. If that’s the case, you will need to comply with the following when it comes to managing your taxes:
- The tax rate is a flat fee of 24% on work-related income up to € 600.000, and 48% on any higher amount.
- You will have to declare assets through the Model 720: Asset Declaration Tax Form.
- You will have to declare any other obligations on your part.
Additionally, you should also check whether working from Spain makes you exempt from taxes in your original country of residence.
In general, we always recommend that remote workers seek advice from tax professionals, particularly those with experience in international tax law.
